On Saturday, Cary and Angela came down from Napa for an annual wine event in Santa Monica. I met them for lunch, along with Cary's mom's cousin Minako (who played Rosie on MASH) and her husband Bob, who works for the NHL. After, I took Maya for the day while her parents were at their event. We went to the Santa Monica Pier, but we spent most of the day in the water, which neither of us had prepared for. We ended up soaked to the waist but it was a lot of fun.
I kept thinking this four-year-old girl, who has not spent much time at Southern California beaches, would be scared of the waves, and we'd probably just get our feet wet. Maya has no fear, however. She kept trying to pull me farther and farther into the water until the waves were at her waist and I had to stand behind her so she wouldn't topple over.
She's an extremely spirited and outgoing girl. You guys will love her when you meet her in August!
