Adam's Birthday!

He's 24 today! I tried to make him a berry cream spongecake from scratch last night. I had a little battle while whipping the cream... I spent over 45 minutes trying to get it to whip, but as you can see it's not much thicker than it's original liquid form. Then I got sick and couldn't finish, so I stuffed everything in the fridge where the ants (ANTS. EVERYWHERE. I HATE THEM) can't get it. The cake is supposed to look much different than above but upon resuming the whipping this afternoon (unsuccessfully), I realized I was going to have to improvise.

Anyway! We'll go out for birthday dinner to Caprice in Redlands... thanks family!!

  1. Hope your birthday was fun! Koko, that cake looks good. I think soft cream, not whipped till it peaks, with a hint of rum or something would be really good. Just FYI, I heard before that if there is any oil in the mixing bowl, or if the bowl is wet, cream doesn't whip. I can't remember if it was oil or water. Or maybe if there was oil in a bowl, yeast doesn't rise....?
