Big Bear Saturday

Inland Empire's been having a massive heatwave, so we drove up to Big Bear for a lunchtime hike and picnic.

Does it surprise anyone to hear that just as we drove to the hiking spot off the shore of Big Bear Lake, we ran into a giant thunderstorm? Of course not! Just another friendly reminder of what my death will be like. We tried to wait it out a bit at the Discovery Center, but the lightning and thunderclaps were HUGE.

Since the rain didn't let up much (and it was raining so hard that any trail would have been super muddy anyway), we had our picnic in the car.

It eventually stopped, and we took a walk on the path around the lake. We watched some ducks, played with a decaying fish head on the beach, picked up some rocks to take home, the usual. It turned out to be a really nice day.
