The ingredients: vanilla syrup, caramel sauce, milk, espresso (or strong coffee).
First add vanilla syrup. I made mine at home instead of buying it. 1 and a half cups of sugar boiled with 2 cups water, simmer for 5 minutes, then add 3/4 tsp of vanilla extract. These measurements make a lot.For the caramel macchiato pour 2 tbsp of vanilla syrup into a glass.
Then pour milk. You're supposed to use steamed milk and put milk foam on top, but I don't have any idea how to do those things.
Half a cup of espresso, or since I don't have an espresso maker, really strong coffee.
Microwave. Then watch Adam watch Top Shot for a minute and a half.
Then add store bought caramel sauce. The recipe I read called for 3-4 tbsp of caramel.
Overall I think the above proportions are ok, but really sweet. I think I'm going to decrease the syrup and caramel sauce a bit, and increase the coffee amount. It doesn't taste exactly like a Starbucks caramel macchiato, but it's free at home, and that's worth the difference!
Mmmm...that looks yummy. I'll try it. I don't go to Starbucks anymore just out of principles. I can't justify payting $5 for a cup of coffee, no matter how good it tastes. Add 2 more bucks, and you can buy a lunch.
