The Hi Up House

Hiked yesterday in Yucaipa's Wildwood Canyon State Park.

And all of a sudden, we ran into the Hi Up House.
Built by the McCullough family during the Great Depression. It was a lot newer looking than I imagined, all boarded up now. I don't know how it came to be abandoned, and I couldn't find any information on it online after we came home.
What a really pretty house, in such a perfect location! It sits in a clearing by itself, and looks out into the valley.

View from the porch:
I am really curious to know what happened to the occupants, and why it was abandoned. Or when it was abandoned. There are garden hoses, door mats around the property that don't look all that old. Overall it was kind of spooky. But what a fantastic place to live!

The view of the house from down the main driveway.
The "front lawn".

Someone's house along the border of the state park.
Breaking big rocks into little rocks.
