Trying to get a little ophthalmology review in for Monday before its an early-but-acceptable time to wake Adam up. It's so hard not to just stare outside though! Being here makes me realize how much I love the outdoors, whether it's mountains or beaches. I feel like I could be so happy living in a tent and camping for the rest of my life than I ever would in the nicest lofts of a large city.

I didn't make new years resolutions, but I did make a list of things I wanted to do this year. One of which is to learn how to camp cheaply, and spend more and more weekends outside.

  1. What a great view. We miss the ocean.

Here area a couple neat websites with loads of info on backpacking. Info on doing it on the cheap with self-made gear as well.

Each of the last two summers, Matt (Andrea's husband)and I have taken the boys on an overnighter, which have been a blast. Next summer, this is where I'd like to go (best viewed full screen): http://www.spokesman.com/galleries/2011/aug/21/footloose-st-joe/

Mama and I were talking about taking you guys camping to Glacier next summer, if you'd like that. We had a blast. http://kevsmuddyboots.blogspot.com/2011_07_01_archive.html

Now you've got me dreaming for summer! We had planned to go crosscountry skiing this winter so we'd have some activity in the mountains over the winter, but we haven't had time so far, with Kevin doing basketball and swimming. Maybe next year.

    2. Here's a neat article about backpacking. Now you've got me completely sidetracked from the boards study I should be doing. This is my last, then back to studying.

  2. Once you get Tom started on this, there's no stopping. Camping IS really fun, and amazingly inexpensive. I loved the trip to Glacier. I've been to Yosemite and Yellowstone, but by far, Glacier is my favorite. If heaven is more beautiful than that, and I'm sure it is, it will totally blow my mind. Once we got basic camping gear, it cost only $200 or less for gas, food, camping site, and huge huckleberry ice cream we had every day. If you guys can come up this summer, let's go to Glacier together!
