Focusing instead on all of the good things about being here:
1. The excellent walks we've taken everyday. The photo is from one of those walks where we met the world's friendliest cat. We've visited the cat everyday. The gardens here have such an unbelievable mix of plants and flowers. Makes the walks so beautiful. We plan to start running here for exercise.
2. Great neighborhood food places within easy walking distance. We found a teriyaki place (I think Japanese owned) and also a Philly cheesesteak place that Adam loves. Plus Safeway is in walking distance also.
3. The apartment is small, yes, but also cozy. I am within eyesight of Adam virtually all of the time. I can stream NPR from my phone and hear it wherever I am. Plus the size really cuts down on cleaning time.
4. Appreciating all of the support from you guys, and from Mike. I feel so lucky to have family that is as warm and caring. Adam has been so strong and supportive. He jumps in to take care of whatever is not working. I think this move has made us a lot closer, and given many opportunities to see how well Adam provides and cares for me.
So there are some downsides and there will be bad days I know, but I can recognize the good things about being here. Now to figure out how to drive here without dying, and eventually, to conquer the public transit system.

That's great. Please tell Adam how much I, as your father, appreciate how well he treats you. He's the man (or the bomb, or whatever the appropriate term is nowadays).
ReplyDeleteI think the phrase is, "He da man!" I'm so glad you are starting to see good things in your life! The apartment will make you and Adam A LOT closer, figuratively and otherwise. It's wonderful that you already have a pet that you don't have to feed and pick up after. A little trials in life will make you stronger a little bit everyday so that someday you will be strong enough to endure your teenagers who used to be your darling children.
ReplyDeleteBut you listen to NPR?!!!
